September Members’ Meeting

We had better weather for the September meeting but..  as many people apologised as attended. Never-the-less it was a lively time in the comfort of the Ashburton Baptist Church Meeting Room. Thanks to Jenny Whiteside who brought the tea and coffee box.

We started out looking at the piece of Lightning Ridge sandstone - we discussed the tools, the dust and moved from there to sculpture symposia... in particular Gordon Robertson brought information of the sculpture.org symposium in New Zealand next year.

Andrew plus core drill
Andrew Bryant offered to core drill a hole for Jenny - which offer was gratefully accepted.

Gordon also brought us a sample of electro-polishing.

We have seen the displays of sculpture in city foyers - 120 Collins Street and Freshwater Place. These are, in part, organised by Todd Stuart - so if you want your work out there take a look at the website ArtPark.com.au and get in touch.

Other ideas covered wooden water pipes - yes made the same way a cooper makes wine barrels and blacksmithing.

As you can see we had fun - so join us at the next meeting and put in your ideas too.

Jenny Rickards
