Have you ever been to the western suburbs (Williamstown, Newport, Altona)?

Now you have a reason, and do extend this invitation to others - there are some great pubs and cafes in these areas.

Anne Anderson and I have approximately 40 works in the Hobsons Bay Civic Foyer - open office hours Mon to Fri. The exhibition ends 3 May.

Many other artists are also exhibiting in various locations - see the Booklet below for previews and details.

Another exhibition commencing Monday 22 April is Flemington’s 2013 La PasseggArta Art in Windows Exhibition.

Featuring businesses along Racecourse Road and the very popular Pin Oak Crescent until 22 May.

My work for this exhibition is just beyond the main shopping strip at Ascot Saddlery, 540 Racecourse Road, conveniently located opposite the entrance to Flemington Racecourse (very fitting for a horse head).

Additionally there is a progressive, ever changing exhibition - currently involving 12 sculptors at Vere’s "Inspired" Exhibition at Shop 17, 427-455 Hampton Street, Hampton

Feedback, either positive or negative, from visitors would be most welcome!

as well as all this.......The Toorak show kicks off this Friday night at 6pm. You are welcome to come to the opening, or at any other time to view over 90 sculptures until 12 June.

Cheers

From Damian Vick:

Damian Vick "Moment"
Moment Has Arrived!

It has taken ten months of focus, sacrifice and sweat, but at long last I am thrilled to announce that my most significant project to date, ‘Moment’ has been permanently installed at 152 Sturt St. South Melbourne.

Measuring 7 meters in diameter and projecting 2.4 meters off the wall, this 3 tonne creation has been as challenging as it has been rewarding.

With the structure assembled and firmly attached to the wall, I am now in the final stages of programming the 18 spotlights installed inside the work. With the switch due to be turned on at the end of next week I will soon provide footage of the sculpture in its final state, as well as a timelapse film that shows exactly what I have been doing for the last year.

Glenferrie Road Street Festival 21st April

It was late notice for ASV participation in the Glenferrie Road Street Festival - and with a couple of days to go I finally figured a format for such an event. In a street festival a static display of work is a tough call - all the delivery, set up and dismantling issues on the one day - just too much trouble for unlikely sales - just the possibility of publicity.

So I opted for a demonstration of wood carving. Monica helped by bringing me a card table on which we had some literature and images and the digital photo frame that I didn’t get to work.

The results? Well first and foremost was establishing a relationship with the Glenferrie Shopping Centre Association, then meeting all those interesting people and promoting both the ASV and my own work. It was fun and I recommend other sculptors take up such opportunities.
