President's Letter for September

Gillian Govan

Hi All,

Another month and another month without producing any art work so this time a very brief message. Brief though it is written with sincerity. Sincere as I have some special thanks.

Kinross House Exhibition Firstly congratulation and thanks to Monica Mauer who organised a great exhibition at Kinross House. Monica did a fantastic job not just coordinating but dealing with rosters, bump in and bump out and also attending the gallery each week end. The Exhibition looked great but unfortunately it was not as well attended as we had hoped. However we still sold 3 works. Congratulations to Rachel Boymal, Marcela Olea and Marija Patterson. Others who contributed to the exhibition were Michael Meszaros who created order out of chaos transforming a room full of sculptures into an exhibition. Janice McCarthy who took the photographs and Jenny Rickards who has done a great job putting them on the website. Thanks to our treasurer John Ride who managed the finances, and all who helped with the publicity, and invitations and Pam and Barry Saunders of Kooyonga Creek Winery who supplied the wine for the opening. Last but not least the sculptors who entered their work especially those who gave their time and sat at the exhibition.

Tesselaars Tulip Festival Thanks once again to Mark Cowie for running the exhibition. As usual smoothly and professionally set up. Congratulations to Andrew Bryant for winning the Tesselaar prize.

Monthly meeting. Thanks to Mary McMahon who organised last months meeting. Unfortunately the speaker was unable to attend but Jenny Rickards and Jenny Whiteside ably filled the void with interesting talks the reports of which were written by Gordon Robertson and appear in this newsletter. Not to be deterred Mary has stepped up again offering to show a short video and briefly discuss the work of Nek Chand and his sculpture garden in India at the next meeting. If you have any other ideas for the meeting please let us know.

I hope I have not forgotten to thank anyone because I am really happy and grateful for all the help we can get.

I have offered to hold the xmas party in November again at my home. But would be happy to look at other offers.

Happy sculpting….Like many I wish I had the time!!
