Meeting Notes

Housekeeping: Barbara Hyde sent thanks for the newsletter which Gillian sends her as a courtesy to a long standing member. Valda Cuming thanks everyone for the recognition of Honorary Life Membership.

And the big news: The Annual and Awards Exhibition 2014 will be at 120 Collins St (St Michael’s Church) we need coordinator & committee. No venue hire charge & no commission except for the ASV. Opening on the Friday after setup.

Oops thanks to John Bishop (applause) - with all the people Gillian thanked in the last newsletter there was an omission - thank you John for all your help.

Xmas party - Carmel Ritchie hosts us on Sunday 24th November. (see below) Then...

Mary McMahon showed a -video about a self taught Indian artist Nek Chand. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5RtTOs_Im8

Bruno’s Garden Marysville has been rebuilt, It is an inspiration to keep going. There were lots of helpers and the work was done..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgvlAG0GsN0 there’s plenty more so go hunting :-)

Then we noted an article about public art /sculpture. With commentary from Khapoor Robertson Swan et al. It was quite a discussion: ‘’all art is public." unless the artist says it’s private, What is the reason for public art? Too much to record - you had to be there since Gordon wasn’t to record it better.
