President's Letter for May 2014

Dear all,

Welcome to another Sculpere. Another month has flown by and progress has been made. The website issues are almost resolved, and the plans for the Annual Exhibition and Awards are well under way. Renewals for membership will be sent out at the end of June together with entries for the exhibition.

Following another visit to 120 Collins Street I am very enthusiastic about our coming exhibition and convinced that it will be a great demonstration of the high quality of work produced by our members. Being back in the City is a chance to show Melbourne what we can do and it is a great opportunity to promote our work and our Association.

I am sure all who were at Robert Hague studio would have been inspired. Thanks to Robert for giving us his time and a very in depth introduction to his art practice. It was such an interesting night, with plenty of questions and answers. Well worth the drive..Even though I took the circuitous tourist route through the city!!

Odelon Redon was not a sculptor but a painter, printmaker however many of his quotes can so easily apply to all art forms

The good work proceeds with tenacity, intention, without interruption, with an equal measure of passion and reason and it must surpass that goal the artist has set for himself.
