Seasons Greetings from our new Vice President

As the new Vice President I will endeavour to do my best at assisting the ASV President and Committee in the smooth running and promotion of the ASV.

It was a sad moment seeing Gillian (leader of the pack) step down from being President. She still remains an integral part of our amazing committee and will continue giving us support.

Matthew 25

Many of you will have seen Tim Schmalz’s sculpture depicting Jesus as a homeless man wrapped in a blanket on park bench. Castings have been installed in cities including Glasgow but not London. Tim named the statue Matthew 25, in reference to a quote from that gospel -

"Truly I tell you,
whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine,
you did for me."

ASV History

We did put this article out last month - but it bears repeating - in the intervening weeks the committee has needed a History to take to publicity meetings, think about grant applications and talk about in general - what we have is too bald, too scanty and too BORING! We do have as interesting and colourful past as any arts organisation and we all stand to learn from it. Anyone who want to help with the history project - please get in touch with a committee member.

Until we have a new president we’ll publish articles from different members of the committee each month.

Going alone you can go faster, going with others you can go further

These days with all new devices and technologies we need to think differently.
Lets use them, artists don’t have to wait to die to become famous and they don’t have to die poor.

ASV Christmas Party

It rained a little but nature put on a great show of clouds over the ranges at Yarra Glen. In no way dampened our spirits and although only a few gathered for our christmas party it was a friendly happy time with lovely wine and food and conversation. Sincere thanks to Marg and Don Carey who worked so hard to make the garden, tennis court and pool so pristine. Thank you once again for opening your house. You are lovely people. We were sorry the numbers were down but it is such a busy time of year so whatever you were doing we wish you happy times and a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
